Physician Directory
Tonsils and adenoids are fleshy masses of lymphatic tissue that help fight off illness and infection by trapping bacteria and viruses as we breathe. Tonsils are located on both sides of the throat while adenoid tissue is located up in the back of the throat, behind the nose. In some patients, tonsils and adenoids may need to be removed surgically.
Treatment for adenotonsillectomy
Coblation® is an advanced technology designed to quickly and gently remove tonsils and adenoids using high frequency energy and natural saline. Coblation technology does not rely on a heat-driven process to remove target tissue and is designed to preserve surrounding healthy tissue. The procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis. In such cases, patients typically return home shortly after the procedure.
Adult tonsillectomy
There are certain considerations that are unique to adult patients. Before you make a decision, discuss the procedure with your physician and follow their instructions about additional restrictions.
Contact a physician to find out if a Coblation tonsillectomy and/or adenoidectomy procedure is right for you.

What are my treatment options?
If your physician determines your tonsils and/or adenoids need to be removed, you will need a surgical procedure such as Coblation® tonsillectomy and/or Coblation adenoidectomy. This surgery is almost always done under general anesthesia and it only lasts about 30 minutes. Most patients can go home the same day.
